WHAT I TREAT
Therapy for Difficult Thoughts, Feelings, and Transitions
Whatever you’re navigating, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Together we’ll look beneath the surface to understand what’s driving it, build real coping skills, and move toward the life you want.
Our Approach to Therapy
At the core of our work is depth psychology and psychodynamic therapy. Most of what brings people in, whether it’s anxiety, relationship conflict, or addiction, isn’t random. It tends to repeat: the same kind of partner, the same argument, the same spiral, just in a different setting. That repetition is usually a sign of something underneath that hasn’t been fully processed, old patterns, unspoken feelings, or early experiences that shaped how we relate to ourselves and others long before we had words for them. Psychodynamic work gives us a way to actually look at those patterns instead of just managing their symptoms, so the change has a chance to last.
Insight alone isn’t always enough, though, so our therapists also draw on other evidence-based approaches when they’re useful: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and CBT-I for insomnia when you need concrete tools and structure, and EMDR when a specific trauma needs more targeted processing. Which combination we use depends on you, not on a fixed protocol.
We work with adults and adolescents managing anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and chronic sleep problems, and we see clients in person in La Jolla or by telehealth anywhere in California.
Serving La Jolla, San Diego, North County, and All of California
Our office is located in La Jolla, convenient to Pacific Beach, UTC, Del Mar, central San Diego, and North County, and we also see clients statewide through secure telehealth. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’ve worked with someone before, the first step is the same: a short conversation to see if we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure and no obligation, just a chance to ask questions and figure out what kind of support makes sense for you right now.
